What is Kaizen?

Everything, whether it is in our personal lives, home, working life can be improved.

Word Kaizen comes from two Japanese words:

  • Kai (meaning improvement) and
  • Zen (meaning good).

Together they translate to continuous improvement.

In business it refers to activities that continuously improve all functions and require participation of all employees from top to bottom. And that is where the streanght of Kaizen comes in. From all worker participation and suggestions to improve business.

Going beyond obvious benefits of improving processes, it is engaging teamwork and is promoting ownership. People take responsibility to their work and add their own experience in improvements.

In the end – people do want to be proud and successful at what they do and this is a way how to help them achieve that while benefiting organization.
